The public can now download eBooks onto their mobile devices with the free 3M Cloud Library app.

The eBooks are free with a Madera County Library card. Loan periods for these eBooks are up to 14 days and there are no late fees or charges.

Once the app is downloaded onto mobile devices, readers can browse through book categories or search for a particular book.

Dale Rushing, Oakhurst Branch Library manager, said the book selection is "excellent" despite limited titles and a limited budget. Rushing said the general public has been anticipating the arrival of this app and are very excited it's now available.

"We have people who live in outlying areas. E-readers make materials instantly available to them without their having to drive to the library," Rushing said.

Unfortunately this app is currently not available on Kindle but 3M Cloud is in negotiations with Amazon to make it accessible.
