Raymond marijuana

Letter to the editor for 9/27/12 edition of the Sierra Star

Dear Editor,

I am writing on behalf of many thankful citizens who live in the vicinity of the recent large scale marijuana eradication off of Road 600 in Raymond. We would like to thank Sheriff John Anderson and all who were involved in the eradication of the plants.

Thank you for bringing our little rural community back to a safer place to live and raise our children. We were aware of the marijuana facility but thought there was nothing we could do because of the prescription law. We assumed it must be futile to remove this element from our neighborhood because they had medical prescriptions to grow the weed and thought it was legal.

We take our "hats off" to our Sheriff Department's efforts to eliminate the profiteering of marijuana in Raymond. Anything that deals in the millions of dollars brings an element into our neighborhood that we would obviously rather not embrace.

We realize it takes genuine concern and an extra coordination with the federal government in order to achieve this goal and again thank you for your service to our Raymond community.
