Randy Glenn Owens, 33, of Fresno, is facing drug and weapons charges following his arrest Sept. 23 in Coarsegold. His arrest was the result of a concerned citizen who phoned in what appeared to be a suspicious vehicle.
Deputies were called out to Wells Road shortly after 1 p.m. When deputies arrived they saw a white Toyota Corolla parked near the intersection of Wells and Opal Roads. The driver, Owens, claimed he was out of gas and waiting for friend. He reportedly told deputies he was unable to furnish a driver's license. Deputies advised Owens that he was also driving without a registration and the car would have to be towed.
During an inventory search of the car, deputies found a small bag of marijuana, a fixed blade knife, three shotgun slugs and a sawed-off shotgun.
Owens was taken into custody without incident and transported to Madera County Department of Corrections. Bail was set at $10,000.
