Larry Pesetski died Sept. 10, 2012, at the age of 66.

Mr. Pesetski was a longtime Oakhurst resident.

He was born April 3, 1946 in Los Angeles.

Mr. Pesetski worked as a history teacher and coach at Yosemite High School for more than 20 years. He was instrumental in starting the school's International Baccalaureate program, EAST program, and multi-media classes. As a coach, he led his team to many victories in football, softball and girls' basketball.

He previously taught at Agoura High School and was a longtime history teacher at Oakhurst Community College and at Sierra Nevada College in Incline Village.

Mr. Pesetski earned a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Arts Degree in history and education at the University of California, Los Angeles, where he was also a member of the football team.

He enjoyed spending time outdoors, backpacking, photography, classic cars, spending time with his dogs, and golfing with friends.

Mr. Pesetski published a photography book in 2005 titled, "A Journey to Lake Tahoe & Beyond."

He was preceded in death by parents Steve and Jean Pesetski.

Mr. Pesetski is survived by wife of 41 years, Loretta; and sister Judie Richards and husband Brian.

A Rosary will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 15 at Our Lady of the Sierra Catholic Church in Oakhurst. The funeral service will be held after at about 2 p.m. at the Yosemite High School multi-purpose room, Buddy Cudd Cafeteria, after the Rosary is finished.

Remembrances may be made to the rescue dog organization, Nor Sled Dogs, in Vallejo.
