Operation Mercury nets 3,000 marijuana plants in Raymond

Published: September 5, 2012

Sheriff John Anderson announced the arrest of three Fresno men that were all booked into the Madera County Department of Corrections.

Agents seized nearly 3,000 marijuana plants — a street value of more than $14 million — two shipping boxes filled with processed marijuana, and two rifles.

The three men arrested were:

Tom Techakaew, 56

Khamko Vongphachanh, 39

Michael Vongphachanh, 34

The three were taken into custody shortly after 6 a.m. today at a home they were renting off Road 600 in Raymond.

An investigation launched by agents assigned to MADNET led the Madera County Narcotic Enforcement Team, along with

Department of Justice Drug Enforcement Administration agents, Sheriff John Anderson and sheriff’s deputies to two homes.

Fish and Game was called to the home after agents discovered a dead bobcat hanging from a patio rafter.

Four men were also detained at a second location. That investigation is ongoing.

This was part of the summer long eradication mission called “Operation Mercury.”
