What a contrast

Letter to the Editor for August 30, 2012 edition

Dear Editor,

After months of repeatedly presenting selectively edited quotes and misrepresentations of facts from right wing pundits on the Obama administration in his column, Dr. Bill Atwood has the temerity to criticize "negative advertising" by both parties.

Even after he has been called out on his misquotes, he still presents them as "facts." In America, we have the freedom to express our opinions. It is unfortunate that he does not exercise the responsibility to his readers that goes with this right.

Dr. Atwood's Aug. 23 column "My Thoughts" once again shows how shallow those thoughts are. He drones on again about Mitt Romney being a multi-millionaire (most past presidents were) when the issue is that all past presidential candidates have released more than two years of their tax returns.

Running as a Republican presidential candidate 1968, his father, George Romney, released 12 years of tax returns, saying otherwise it would not give an accurate picture. Romney Senior also supported an amendment to the official party platform that would denounce extremism of all types.

What a contrast to his son.
