Dear Editor,
Please allow me to reply to the letter to the editor in the Aug. 9 Sierra Star from Ed Estes, "Is Tea Party sincere about Prop 32?"
I'm a Tea Party coordinator and I favor prop 32. Former Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger's 2005 prop 73 was very similar and failed due to massive teacher union donations from payroll deductions as will this proposition. As a 30 plus year union employee, I resent my union using my money deducted from my income to support a socialist candidate or issue.
Corporate donations are private and therefore nobody's business, regardless who they are supporting. Corporations have generally capitalistic ideologies and we rely on regulations to limit their input.
Their donations are from profit and success, unlike union donations which I have no say in where my money is spent. Yes, Prop 32 fits our three core values of fiscal responsibility, free market enterprise and Constitutionally limiting government.
