Hole-in-one for Loretta Fairband
After eight years of playing golf, Ahwahnee resident Loretta Fairband got her first hole-in-one June 26 at Red Hawk Golf Hills Course in Sparks, Nev.
Her feat took place on the No. 5, 96-yard par three using a six iron.
She was playing with her husband, Jim, and friends Jim and Phyllis Neil.
Fish Camp 15K
The Fish Camp 15K, the last of the three-race Summer Trail Run Series, is at 8 a.m. Saturday in Fish Camp. The race starts on Mt. Raymond Road (snow play area), one mile north of Fish Camp.
Race Director Baz Hawley is expecting 50 races for the event.
"These trail races are growing in popularity little by little," said Hawley. "The first year we had 25 racers, last year we had 40 and this year I'm expecting about 50.

Wawona golf tournament
The Yosemite Lions Club will hold its annual fundraising golf tournament Saturday, Sept. 8 at the Wawona Hotel golf course.
The $75 registration includes green fees, golf cart, tournament polo shirt and cap and barbecue awards dinner at the hotel.

lines named to Bee's all-star team
Recent Yosemite High School graduate Harley Glines, has been named to the Fresno Bee's baseball All-Star honorable mention team.
The Badger catcher, who was a unanimous selection for first team All-League in the North Sequoia League, led Yosemite in batting average (.397) and hits (27) last season.
He was second on the team in doubles (five) and on-base percentage (.457) and was No. 3 in RBIs (eight).
Only nine of 27 base runners succeeded in stealing a base against the strong-armed catcher and he had a .985 fielding percentage.
