The International Kart Federation (IKF) held a Region 11 (Northern California) race July 7 and 8 at Monterey Bay Kart Track in Marina and Ahwahnee's Action Law Racing team came home with three awards.
The team's two rookie sibling drivers, Blake Action, 11, and Emerson, 9, earned three trophies at the event.
Blake placed third in the KPV 1 division and fourth in Junior 1.
Emerson won first place in the Rookie Corner division.
The races include seven minute qualifying rounds, two 10 lap heats and an 18 lap main event for each division.
After racing in the sweltering heat in the Central Valley, the Marina track had everyone donning jackets and sweaters to fend off the wind and cold.
The Action Law Racing team is sponsored by attorney Eugene Action and Graphix Plus of Clovis.
Kart racing is alive and well in the Central Valley with two kart clubs within an hour of the Mountain Area. The Kerman Kart Club and the Atwater Kart Club hold races all summer long. Blake and Emerson enjoy practicing at the Atwater Kart Club's Tom Dash Memorial Speedway.
Two races are left in the IKF Region 11 season, one in Reno and another at the Fresno Fairgrounds Oct. 27 and 28. The Kerman Kart Club will host the race. See kermankartclub.com for more information on the race and how children and adults can get started in kart racing. The first step to Indy, NASCAR and Formula 1 racing.
