Henry Dean Buchanan born

Henry Dean Buchanan was born May 20 at Clovis Community Hospital weighing six pounds, 15 ounces.

His parents are Jennifer and Keith Buchanan of Ahwahnee. He joins siblings Celestine, Cyrus, Linus, Theodore, Oliver and Eloise. His paternal grandparents are Dee and the late Gene Buchanan Sr. of Oakhurst. His maternal grandparents are Dean Yates and Julie Whitcomb of Baltimore, Md.

Hand graduates from Harvard; scholarship to Cambridge in fall

Benjamin Hand, a 2008 Yosemite High School graduate, recently earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Harvard University. Hand graduated cum laude with highest honors. His concentration was social studies, the study of political philosophy and history.

Hand was co-editor-in-chief of the Harvard Review of Philosophy, and was the student representative on the Faculty of Arts and Sciences Committee on General Education, and the Committee on Academic Integrity. Hand was also a recipient of the Thomas T. Hoopes Prize, Harvard's highest honor for writing at the undergraduate level.

Hand will work at Mono Lake this summer before leaving in the fall for the University of Cambridge in England. He will be attending Cambridge as one of four graduates who were awarded a Herchel Smith Post-Graduate Fellowship. The fellowship pays full tuition, fees and expenses to study at Cambridge for up to three years. Hand is the son of Robert and Jean Hand of Coarsegold.

Jim and Sheri Lee 25th anniversary

Jim and Sheri Lee of Oakhurst will celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary June 20.

The couple has two sons, Jayme, a student at University of California, Santa Barbara; and Jayson, a freshman at Yosemite High School.
