Patrick David Kraft
Patrick David Kraft died Feb. 20, 2012, at the age of 45.
Mr. Kraft grew up in Oakhurst.
He was born Aug. 21, 1966 in Suffern, N.Y.
Mr. Kraft graduated from Yosemite High School in 1984. He earned a Bachelor of Science in accounting and a master's degree in education administration from California State University, Fresno.
He was a member of Theta Chi Fraternity.
Mr. Kraft was a certified public accountant for 16 years with Clovis Unified School District.
He was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church.
Mr. Kraft enjoyed playing cards, golfing and sports.
He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Amy Kraft; children Kaycee, James, and Jarod "JT," mother Marilou Kraft; his father Dave Kraft and wife Diane; brother Joe Kraft; sister Colleen Ham and husband Jerry; nieces and nephews; mother-in-law Cynthia McCulloch; aunt and uncle Keith and Pennie Woods; great-grandmothers Mary Bull and Marian Woods.
A funeral mass was held Feb. 24 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Fresno.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to "Patrick Kraft Scholarship Fund" at any Central Valley Community Bank for the continued education of his children.
Herbert H. Wong
Herbert H. Wong died Feb. 22, 2012, at the age of 92.
Mr. Wong was a resident of North Fork for 26 years.
He was born Nov. 17, 1919 in Portland, Ore.
Mr. Wong served in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1945.
He enjoyed bowling, coin collecting and dancing.
Mr. Wong is survived by his wife Bernice; sons James, Herb Jr., Scott and Cristin; daughters Sharon, Jaxquie and Tina; 17 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
A memorial service was Feb. 27 at Landmark Missionary Baptist Church. A burial was held Feb. 28 at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery.
Joyce Laverne D'Amore
Joyce Laverne D'Amore died Feb. 21, 2012, at the age of 89.
Mrs. D'Amore was a resident of Oakhurst and Ahwahnee since 1989.
She was born July 13, 1922 in Sebeka, Minn.
Mrs. D'Amore enjoyed spending time with her family and sharing her love of God's word with others.
She is survived by sons James and Michael D'Amore; grandchildren Tony, Porcia, Sonny and David D'Amore, Nikki D'Amore-Goodgion, Leah D'Amore-Cribbs, Carly D'Amore-Royball; many great-grandchildren, nephews and nieces.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, March 3 at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses -- 5003 School Road (427), Oakhurst.
Dorothy Hollis Bartlett
Dorothy Hollis Bartlett died Feb. 22, 2012, at the age of 90.
Mrs. Bartlett was a resident of North Fork and Oakhurst for 28 years.
She was born Aug. 4, 1921 in De Kalb, Texas.
Mrs. Bartlett enjoyed spending time with her family.
She was a member of Assembly of God Church in North Fork.
Mrs. Bartlett was preceded in death by grandchild Erin Brennan and great-grandson Joe Bartlett.
She is survived by husband P.M. Bartlett of Oakhurst; sons Mike Bartlett and wife Gigi of Topanga, and Bruce Bartlett and wife Lynne of Oakhurst; daughter Theresa Segali and husband Tom of Monterey; grandchildren Sean, Tracy and Keefe Brennan, Ben and Allison Bartlett, Kelli and Travis McCarty, and Alison and Blake Lewis; great-grandchildren Aiden and Jaxin McCarty, Paige and Wesley Bartlett.
A memorial service was held Feb. 25 at Palm Memorial Sierra Chapel in Oakhurst.
James B. Dudley
James B. Dudley, 82, dies Feb. 26, 2012, at the age of 82.
Mr. Dudley was a resident of Oakhurst for 33 years.
He was born Feb. 13, 1930, in Burkburnett, Texas, and was an iron worker for 40 years.
Mr. Dudley was preceded in death by his first wife Kathy Dudley and daughter Kathy Dudley.
He is survived by wife Rozella Dudley of Oakhurst; two sons, Ron Dudley of Fresno and Tyroc Vineyard of Idaho; four daughters, Judi Reinke of Clovis, Twila Sparti of Utah, Nina Swan of California and Anna Rizan of Washington; three sisters, Billie Taylor of Texas, Francis Morgan of Texas and Betty Rizan of California; 15 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
Viewing will be 4-7 p.m. Friday, March 2 at Sierra Chapel. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 3, at Oakhill Cemetery.
Dorothy Lowe Phillips
Dorothy Lowe Phillips, a career nursing educator and longtime resident of Ahwahnee, died Feb. 19 at the age of 72.
She was born in Jacksonville, Fla. on June 3, 1939.
Mrs. Phillips earned a nursing degree and went on to earn her master of nursing degree at UCLA and her doctorate in higher education from Nova Southeastern University.
She was later named associate dean of health occupations at Allan Hancock College in Santa Maria, retiring in 2004.
She met her ex-sailor husband Dale in 1972 and they married on Valentine's Day, 1973.
After visiting Yosemite as often as they could, they built a home in the hills above Ahwahnee. They settled there permanently in 2004 and became members of Oakhurst Lutheran Church, where she sang in the choir and coordinated the church's Relay for Life team.
She was awarded a Soroptimist "Woman of Distinction" for her relay work in 2011.
Her husband proceeded her in death in 2010.
She is survived by her sons, Frank Phillips, of Heilsbronn, Germany, and Sean Phillips, of Oregon City, Ore.; daughter, Dottie Dunnigan, of Ventura; stepdaughter, Kim Murphy, of Bainbridge Island, Wash.; brothers, Clifford, Jay and Steven Lowe; sister, Diane Jetton; grandchildren, Jenny, Frank, Mike, Bryan, Sasha and Annabel; and great-grandchildren, Lucas and Melina.
