Rodeo Royalty

The 2011 Coarsegold Rodeo Queen, Princess, and Little Princess will be crowned at noon Sunday.

Eleven cowgirls ranging in age from 11 to 24 will compete this weekend, in their age category, for Miss Coarsegold Rodeo Queen 2011, Miss Coarsegold Rodeo Princess and Miss Coarsegold Rodeo Little Princess.

The four rodeo queen contestants will be judged on equitation, salute and horsemanship and reining patterns as well as personality, poise and appearance. They will also have to pass a closed-door personal interview in front of a panel of judges.

The Princess and Little Princess contestants will be judged solely on horsemanship skills.

Contestants include:


Little Princesses

Miranda Janine Castro: Miranda, 11, is from Clovis and attends Garfield Elementary School. Her hero is her grandma because she retired to take care of Miranda when she was diagnosed with bone marrow failure.

Miranda's future goals are to go to college and learn how to be a vet and join the equine program and run barrels.

Taylor Janice Brum: Taylor, 12, is from Fresno and attends Houghton Kearney Elementary School. Her hero is her grandpa because he has worked hard his whole life and he always thinks of others. He enjoys life and likes to help people expecting nothing in return.

Taylor's future goals are to go to college to become a vet, be a barrel racer and to own her own horse ranch.

Signe Victoria Lundstrom: Signe, 12, is from Fresno and attends Houghton Kearney Elementary School. Her hero is her trainer Cindy Gunter who is gentle and patient with Signe and the horses she trains.

Signe's future goals are to hopefully be able to ride as well as Cindy does and to become a large animal vet.

Rebecca Lynn Young: Rebecca, 12, is from Kerman and attends Houghton Kearney Elementary School. Her hero is Trish Selser, her 4-H leader who gives all her time to help kids learn to ride and appreciate horses and people.

Rebecca's future goals include furthering her skills in horse riding.


Princesses

Katie McDougald: Katie, 14, is from O'Neals and attends Minarets High School. Her hero is her dad because he has taught her about cattle ranching, riding and training horses.

Katie's future goals are to finish training her 4-year-old quarter horse filly, and to attend UC Davis Veterinary School.

Kinsey Lauren McDougald: Kinsey, 14, is from O'Neals and attends Spring Valley Elementary School. She doesn't believe there is one specific person as her hero, however, there are many people in her life who she admires and looks up to.

Kinsey's future goals are to attend Minarets High School and then enroll at either Oklahoma State University or Texas A&M College where she hopes to participate on the equestrian team.

Haley Nott: Haley, 13, is from Coarsegold and attends Coarsegold Elementary School. Her hero is Don Sachey because he is a third-level dressage rider and has taught her a lot.

Haley's future goals are to major in Equine Science and Communication Skills at Fresno State University.


Queens

Brittanie Anne Patlan: Brittanie, 21, is from Fresno and attends Fresno City College. Her hero is her Nana Lupie who recently passed awy after a two-year battle with uterine cancer. She instilled many morals and goals in Brittanie that she lives by today.

Brittanie is a strong independent young lady because of her. Brittanie's future goals are to transfer to University of California, Berkeley, or Fresno State and graduate with a degree in Kinesiology and be a part of the PBR Sports Medicine Team.

Chadd Kirsten Tate: Chadd, 24, is from Paso Robles and attends Cuesta Community College. Her hero is her mom. She says there are not enough words to describe how amazing she is. She has always been there for Chadd and she wants to make her proud even though she already is.

Chadd's future goals are to finish college and become a veterinarian.

Alexia Arietta: Alexia, 19, is from Fresno and attends Fresno City College. Her hero is Mrs. Mattes, who was her Ag Leadership teacher and without her pushing Alexia and molding her, she would have never become the person she is today.

Alexia's future goals are to major in chemistry and become a pharmacist.

Jessie Evans: Jessie, 17, is from Madera Ranchos and attends Minarets High School.

She does not have a hero, however there are many people who she looks up to for their character and determination to accomplish their goals.

Jessie's future goals are to graduate high school with honors, attend Fresno State and train reining horses.
