During a game against Selma, Yosemite High School Sophomore Bethany Buchnoff, No. 2 player for the Badgers tennis team, secured her first varsity win last Thursday. Also winning matches were No. 4 player, Sophie Faulkner, and the Badgers No. 3 doubles team, made up of Biff Avina and Simone Radliff.
"I was happy to get my first varsity win," said Buchnoff. "I think we are going to have a good season."
"We had some bright spots, but the team has to significantly improve their overall intensity if they expect to challenge for the league championship," coach Stan Lawrence said.
Erica Grant still reigns as the team's No. 1 player.
The team hosts Hoover High School at 3 p.m. today and McLane High at 3:30 p.m. on Sept. 8.
