Richard "Dick" Swalm died Aug. 12, 2010 at the age 70.
He was a native of Ancon, Canal Zone, Panama and a resident of Oakhurst.
Mr. Swalm was an Entomologist for the California Department of Food and Ag for 32 years and was a member of the Yosemite Christian Center in Madera.
He received his B.S. degree at Cal Poly Pomona in Entomology and spent a year as an instructor in jungle survival training for the U.S.A.F. in Panama and was on the Madera Rescue Mission board.
Mr. Swalm and his wife Corkie founded "Love in Food and Evangelism Ministry," providing food in Madera.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years Corleen "Corkie" Swalm of Madera; daughter Tami Ward and her husband Dominic of Oakhurst; son Gary Hedman and his wife Julie of Madera; grandchildren Cameron Lynn Beene and his wife Kate of San Mateo; and Heather Lynn Edsall and her husband Jeff of Santa Cruz; one great-grandchild on the way; and nieces and nephews.
