On Jan. 12, playing under less than ideal conditions, Angela Peters, playing in the River Creek Ladies Golf Club's weekly tournament, scored her first hole-in-one on the 146-yard hole No. 3 at the River Creek Golf Course.

Peters, using a nine wood, teed of from the gold tee to sink a shot that most golfers usually just dream about.

With all the excitement she managed to finish playing the tournament and ended up in third place overall for the day.

"It's a day I'll never forget," Peters said. "I'm striving to lower my handicap and that day showed me that anything is possible." Her handicap is currently in the mid-20s.

According to Golf Digest and the National Hole-In-One Association, the odds of the average amateur player making a hole-in-one are one in 12,750.

Peters is no stranger to being in the winner's circle. Although she has been playing golf for less than four years, she has already won regional tournaments as a team member and individually.

In 2008 and 2009, she played on the four woman River Creek team competing against other teams from Tulare to Merced. These seven yearly tournaments, put together by the Pacific Women's Golf Association, typically showcase the best players from each club.

In 2009 Peters' team, which also included Candace Flammang, Maggie Martin and Phyllis Nell, finished in first place for Low Gross in their division. Peters also took second place Low Net over the entire field of more than 200 women.

In April 2009, Peters again competed against the best women golfers in the Pacific Women's Golf Association's Margaret DeBaets Tournament of Champions. Peters swept the field by taking first place Low Net at Brighton Crest Country Club.

At her home course, River Creek, Peters finished in first place in the "Winner's Circle" for the accumulated yearly scores for both 2008 and 2009 having won more tournaments than any other member of the club.

Linda Shepler, captain of the River Creek Women's Golf Club said, "Angie is a great ambassador for women's golf and we are lucky to have her representing River Creek and the entire mountain community in the regional tournaments. I can't wait to see what she does in 2010."
