The Yosemite Badgers boys soccer team has turned its fortunes around. Coming off of a dismal 1-8-2 league season in 2009, the Badgers, under coach Ron Cox, have returned to the playoffs.
After losing to 1-0 to Chowchilla in the North Sequoia League season opener, the Badgers did not look back rolling to a second place finish in the league with a record of 6-1-2 (10-6-2 overall).
The team was scheduled to play three matches last week, but the first match with Washington Union was canceled. They did play the Liberty Hawks twice winning both matches.
In Monday's contest the Badgers traveled to Madera Ranchos to take on the 1-8-1 Hawks and pulled the match out 3-1 in double overtime. They hosted Liberty on Friday and the Badgers won the match handily 4-0. That gave Yosemite sweeps over Liberty, Sierra and Kerman on the season.
Up next for the No. 10-seeded Badgers took on the No. 7-seed Clovis North yesterday in Clovis. The results were not available at presstime.
