It was a tough week for the Yosemite High School boys soccer team last week with the Badgers playing in two matches that ended in a double overtime tie with North Sequoia League opponents, Washington Union Panthers and the Chowchilla Redskins.

Washington Union

On Tuesday the Badgers traveled to Easton to play the Washington Union Panthers (6-4-5, 2-2-2 NSL). The two league opponents did not disappoint in what proved to be a physical match from start to finish.

Both teams had several scoring opportunities, but none of the shots hit their mark and regulation time ended with no score. The two 10-minute overtime periods mirrored the regulation play and the game ended in a 0-0 tie.

Chowchilla

On Thursday, Chowchilla (4-5-2, 2-0-1 NSL) made its way to Oakhurst to take on the Badgers. Yosemite was hoping to avenge a previous 1-0 loss against the undefeated Redskins on Jan. 12.

The Badgers dominated the first half of play, but were unable to convert any goals, and it was 0-0 at the break. In the second half, the Badgers had a goal called back for the second time in the contest due to an off-sides penalty and with 12 minutes left in the game, Chowchilla put the first goal on the board, floating a ball over the outstretched hand of Badger goalkeeper, Justin Webb.

Yosemite went on the attack and tied the score with less than 5 minutes remaining in regulation on a corner kick by Mitchell Freisen. Freisen's kick went straight to the front of the Redskin net where Roman Morales drilled the ball into the back for the score. The overtime periods went back and forth, but neither team could add to the score and the Badgers match ended in a tie for the second time of the week.

Yosemite hosted Kerman on Tuesday , and traveled to rival Sierra today (both scores was unavailable at press time).
