The Badgers (6-10, 1-2 NSL) trailed by seven with 25-18 at the intermission, scoring just six points in the second quarter. Yosemite's defense, led by junior post Caleb Cederblom who had 11 rebounds and a blocked shot, held the Redskins (5-10, 1-3 NSL) to a field goal in the third quarter.
The Badgers offense came to life in the second half, scoring 19 points in the third. Senior forward Detri Dunn finished with 16 points and junior guard Cody Essary scored eight points, including two 3-point baskets.
"I thought we were a little sloppy on offense in the first half, but I think we played with intensity on defense and that kept us in the game," said Dunn, who averages 13.5 points per game. "But overall, defensively, I thought we did some good things."
Cederblom and sophomore guard Harley Glines, who averages 8.9 points per game, scored seven points each, while sophomore Justin McMillen and senior Tyler Wilhite added six points apiece.
The fourth quarter turned into a free-for-all as Yosemite's 12-point lead dwindled to two, with 3 minutes remaining. Chowchilla closed the gap on a basket inside by senior forward Edgar Armenta, averaging 13 points per game. Glines answered with a 3-pointer to open the lead back to six.
