The Sierra High boys basketball team jumped out to a first quarter 18-10 lead en route to a 66-41 win over Yosemite High last week.

The score was almost an identical reversal of the Yosemite - Sierra girl's game, won by Yosemite 66-39. It was the league opener for both teams.

The Chieftains brought their 11-4 record to Yosemite High and showed why they are one of the favorites to win the league championship this year.

Sierra showed a balanced offense as Brandon Bill scored 19, followed by Trevor Baker with 18 and Tim Hastie adding 15.

Sierra led at half time 44-24 and the Badgers were never able to close the 20-point gap.

Sophomore Justin McMillen led all scores for the Badgers with 10 points. Detri Dunn and Caleb Cederblom added nine and six points respectively and Cody Essary and Tyler Wilhite scored four each.
