Shannon (Shane) Edwards

Obituary for July 30, 2009 edition

03/12/1970 to 8/11/2008

Shannon was born in Escondido, CA. He grew up in Oakhurst and attended Oak Creek Middle School as well as Yosemite High School. After graduation he lived in Escondido, San Jose and Boise, ID. Though he was away from the mountains he maintained contact with the people he grew up with.

Prior to his accident in 1989 that left him a quadriplegic, he was an avid fisherman in the local mountain streams, enjoyed woodworking and playing golf.

Shane was a recipient of Canine Companions For Independence (CCI). This wonderful service provides service dogs for people in wheelchairs.

Shane is survived by his father Barney Edwards of Brooksville, FL; mother Mary Resna of Dana Point; sister Melanie Lecat of Fresno; brother Sean of De Pere WI; three nieces and step father David Nelson of Mesa, AZ.

A memorial picnic will be held Saturday Aug. 15, 2009 at 12 noon in the Little Denver Church picnic area, Shane’s favorite fishing area in Bass Lake
