New traffic signals at the corner of Highway 41 and Road 415 in Coarsegold are expected to be activated by the end of August, according to Madera County Road Assistant Engineer Jared Carter. The improvement will eliminate the heavy congestion on Road 415 during morning and afternoon commute hours and make the intersection much safer. The average traffic volume on Road 415 at that location is 6,000 vehicles a day. The installation of the lights and road widening cost $420,000 and was paid by Madera County with federal grant funds. The contractor for the project was Cruco Construction.
