Dear Editor,
I would like to express our appreciation for the excellent article that staff writer Tiffany Tuell wrote concerning the Art in the Garden Tour sponsored by the Friends of the North Fork Library June 14.
The Star's publicity helped to make this year's event a success.
For those of you who didn't have the opportunity to attend, you missed a great community event. The weather was lovely, the artwork was amazing and the gardens were lush and beautiful.
Artists from all over the Mountain Area came to display their work in the lovely North Fork gardens. Their talent as well as all of their effort in putting on such a wonderful display was really appreciated.
A special thank you has to go to homeowners Rick and Virginia Lehman, Eric and Kathy Tooms, and Don and Judy Horn for graciously allowing the Friends of the Library to use their gardens for the tour.
They worked countless hours to have their gardens in top shape for the tour. Without their support this year's event would not have been a reality.
To continue the community involvement, Mountain Oaks High School joined in the preparations for this year's tour by making signs to direct guests to the gardens.
Principal Gary Talley said the students really enjoyed putting their skills to work helping the community.
Last, but not least, the Friends of the Library members baked dozens of delicious cookies for the tour guests to enjoy and sold tickets at the gardens the day of the tour.
Thank you very much to everyone who contributed to this year's tour.
Your support raised more than $800 for the library to purchase books and other materials for the community to enjoy.
Debbie Myers, North Fork
