The Sierra Mountain Little League dropped game one of the all-star playoffs, losing to Madera National 18-4. The score itself did not reflect the level of play of the Oakhurst team which battled for six innings. The score was 5-3 going into the fifth inning when Madera boosted its lead to 8-3 with a three run home run following a Sierra player made an error that should have ended the inning.
Entering the sixth and final inning, trailing 8-4 but several walks and multiple errors in the inning led to a 10 run inning by Madera. "Except for that one inning," according to coach Ron Webb, "It was an exciting game and Sierra played well."
Sierra's was at home on Tuesday against Selma. Scores were unavailable as the Star went to press.
