Early this month a check for $3,238.33 was presented by Mike Barker to Heartland CEO, Joe Columbe. The proceeds came from the Knight’s of Columbus Tootsie-Roll drive. Funds were donated at various local businesses. Barker, chair of last year’s Knight’s Tootsie-Roll, informed tourist bus drivers of the charity. The drivers passed on the information and tourists began giving freely to the cause. ‘It’s the caring community that makes it all happen,’ Barker said.
