The Mountain Area has weathered its first snowstorm rather well. According to CHP, only a few incidents of sliding on the icy roadways were reported with no injuries — the worst, a big rig slide that closed Deadwood for 1 1/2 hours on Monday. PG&E reported only one residential power outage in Mariposa. Reports say area precipitation averages remain well below average. Mostly, the snow seemed to enhance the holiday spirit and inspired many to take a snow day and head to the national parks.
