The 12th Annual Heritage Days parade will step off at 10 a.m. Saturday at Yosemite High School and end at Golden Oak Drive, marking an hour of festive floats, rodeo queens on horseback, firefighters, grannies and a few surprises.
The parade usually has about 50 entries, said organizer Sandy Brinley.
Entry categories include band, color guard, marching units, floats, automobiles, equestrian, historical themes and miscellaneous entries with subcategories to fit just about anyone wanting to join in.
Dick Killingsworth, event organizer, said he expects a Native American entry with participants in full traditional regalia.
After the parade everyone is invited to Fresno Flats Historical Park for its annual party.
Road closures for Saturday's event are: The north three lanes of Road 426 from Road 427 to Golden Oak Drive; Road 427 from Road 426 to 428 (traffic will detour to Hang Tree Lane); Indian Springs Road at Road 427; Elliot Drive and Road 427; Pierce Drive at Road 427. Traffic on Road 427 will be northbound only from Indian Springs drive to Road 428 from 8 a.m. to the start of the parade.
Spectators parked in lots adjacent to the north side of Road 426 will be required to remain parked at the end of the parade until all participants returning to the staging area have passed.
