Two local students, Tasha Dragoo and Jesse Paar, who had originally facilitated a “campaign” for kids to help the Harry H. Baker Boys & Girls Club (they call it the BGC) at Oak Creek Intermediate School, attended the recent Boys & Girls Club meeting of its director. They and others have been actively seeking support in the community by creating posters and distributing them in the community as well as distributing information packets in front of Raley’s and other areas. They read well-prepared statements to the board and also presented a $10 bill to the board - a woman who accepted a poster gave it to them to recognize and help them with their efforts. Sierra Telephone provided them with a supply of brightly colored papers, some glue sticks and markers to help them with their poster-making and will laminate the posters for them. The club temporarily closed its doors recently after being open for 10 years because of financial difficulties.
