Just thinking
...about flexibility.
The ability to be flexible, to change plans and directions frequently and easily, is a good thing and necessary in today's busy environment.
Besides finding flexibility necessary, I have always found it fun and challenging. I love coming to work each day and wondering what new things will come along to change the course of the day and change my plans.
In every job I've had, flexibility has been a built-in requirement because of the nature of those jobs. One phone call, one conversation, one e-mail can change all plans.
At one point in our lives, my husband and I never knew what emergency would come along to change the day and to change plans. We finally learned not to plan a day away from the office ahead of time. If we found a day that looked quiet, we would take the day to get away while we could. That way, we weren't disappointed because we had to cancel plans, and we didn't inconvenience other people.
It was really kind of special to take off for the day on the spur of the moment; it added to the pleasure of being away.
I still enjoy the challenge of a sudden task; it keeps life interesting. I have often counted my blessings for having always had a job that was exciting, challenging, fun and rewarding.
Flexibility and the ability to shift gears and do something different bring their own rewards and the feeling of satisfaction.
That keeps life fun and interesting. I like that.
