Tea time
The Wild Wonderful Women & Friends, together with the Wild Wonderful King Vintage Museum, will celebrate May as Museum Month with a tea party.
The fundraising party named "Strawberries and Pearls: Victorian Tea" will be on Monday, May 12 at 1 a.m. at "Time for Tea," located at Highway 41 and Road 426 in Oakhurst. The Wild Wonderful Women & Friends are sponsoring the event as a fundraiser for the museum.
The Wild Wonderful King Vintage Museum is a vintage costume and accessories museum with merchandise that spans more than 200 years. Some even date back to 1790.
The museum collection includes women's, men's and children's clothing and accessories, including war memorabilia and military uniforms from the Civil War, Spanish American War and more.
The event will include a silent auction, raffle and fashion exhibit. The fashion exhibit will include several of the dresses from the King Vintage Museum collection celebrating the elegance and beauty of the Victorian times. A special tour of the museum after the tea can be arranged by calling the museum. The cost of the tea is $17.95, and tickets are available at the museum in Oakhurst (across from Western Sierra Nursery) or by calling the museum at: (559) 658-6999. Sierra Art Trails 2008
The call to artists for Sierra Art Trails 2008 has closed. But if you would like to be involved with the largest fine art event in central California, there are plenty of other opportunities.
The planning committee for SAT meets once a week. Members appoint subcommittees, including special events and outreach projects. Sponsors are also needed. Funds raised by Sierra Art Trails not only make the event possible, but also fund art scholarships, grants for working artists, arts organizations and public art projects.
SAT is seeking volunteers to work on a variety of tasks, including event planning, catalog development and distribution, marketing and advertising, graphic design, and fundraising. Docents and student mentors are also needed.
