Entrance fees for the coming year at Yosemite and Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks will be the same as last year.

Park visitors entering by auto will have two fee options: the annual $7 Golden Eagle passport will admit the driver and all occupants of a private vehicle.

A private non-commercial vehicle driver may purchase a daily permit for $1 for him and all in vehicle.

A talent show sponsored by the Parent-Teacher Club of Oakhurst played to a packed house at the Oakhurst Community Center.

A photo showed a burlesque skit staged by Patti Law with Barbara Bissett, Carlene Petrille and Harry Baker Jr. performing. Second photo showed the Oakhurst Brownie Troop performing a song and dance routine.

Twenty-four young people, members of the Pines Christian Ambassadors youth group and 14 adult counselors will leave for a week in Ensenada, B.C., Mexico.

Several work projects are planned, including painting interiors and helping construct a parsonage for the pastor of a Methodist church.

Thirty Years Ago

Jesse and Iva Love have been selected grand marshals for this year's Sierra Mountaineer Days. The Loves, both natives of Oklahoma, have lived in mountain area for 45 years. In 1945 they built the Oakhurst Market on Highway 41. They sold the business in '48 to Babe and Martha Coccantes. Jess served nine years on the Oakhurst School Board and 15 years on the Sierra High School Board.

He was an honorary member of SHSA. Iva was a charter member of the Soroptimist Club and a member of the Lady Lions and also of Coarsegold Grandmothers Club.

Tony Coelho, candidate for the Democratic nomination for the 15th Congressional District, enjoyed a relaxed visit to Oakhurst after spending seven days and traveling 1,000 miles campaigning throughout the state.

He spoke to YHS students and stressed openness in government.
