Creativity

Creativity exists and is apparent in 95 percent of children of ages three to five. By the time they reach their teens, it drops to only 5 percent. There is a message here. Creativity should be encouraged, not discouraged. Stop saying "no, that is not practical." Let them dream. That is where new ideas and inventions come from. We do not even have comic strips that encourage that. Remember Dick Tracy with his wristwatch phone that became a wristwatch TV? I remember that, when I was in grammar school in the 1940's, I "invented" a laptop computer with wireless phone in an attaché case. Nobody thought that idea was practical at all.

Population

You already know that we live in one of the largest, if not the largest, state in the union of 50 states. But did you know that we have 10 percent of the total population of the nation?

Bumper sticker of the month:

Keep honking. I'm reloading.

Secret of success

Somebody asked J. Paul Getty, when he was alive and the richest man in the world at that time, what the secret of success was. His reply was simple:

(1) Rise early.

(2) Work hard.

(3) Strike oil.

Dieting and exercise

Only one-third, of those who should, do it. Those who are obese or over-weight consist of one-third of all children under the age of 12. The statistic jumps up to two-thirds for all adults. Dr. Atkins, of Atkins Diet fame, was going to write another book on the relationship between diabetes and obesity, called Diabesity. They have even now found a relationship between obesity and a proclivity to Alzheimer's. This is a very serious subject in our society that needs more attention.
