The Yosemite High School baseball team scored four runs and left-handed pitcher Jesse Lownsbury (3-1) threw a one-hitter as the Badgers (10-16, 8-5 NSL) defeated No. 1-ranked (Division IV) Chowchilla High School Friday on the Redskins' (21-6, 9-3 NSL) home field 4-1.
The Badgers, who had been averaging 11 hits a game over the last seven games, managed just six hits, but made them count, scoring the first run in the top of the first inning after Jackson Glines drew a walk stole second and scored on a Lownsbury double.
Yosemite scored twice more in the third when Justin Webb hit into a fielder's choice and advanced on another Lownsbury double. Both runners scored on an error by the Redskins' shortstop.
Michael Thompson earned the save. pitching the final two innings, allowing two hits and hitting a batter.
