The Yosemite High School boys and girls varsity basketball teams have been recognized as having the top grade point averages for basketball programs in the CIF Central Section for the winter sports season of 2007-08.
The boys program had a GPA of 3.40 and the girls team finished with a GPA of 3.46.
"I have been sending in GPAs for every athletic team every season," Yosemite athletic director Tammy Thacker said. "Fortunately our basketball teams won."
The CIF Central Section Academic Championships were begun as a way to reward teams with the highest collective grade-point averages, based on an unweighted 4.0 scale, in their respective sport.
The two teams received a championship banner at a rally in Badgers Stadium on April 25.
