Madera County Sheriff John Anderson will once again launch the department's annual boat registration, and boaters have several chances to register on dry land. Registration is required on Bass Lake from May through September. Each registration is good for the season

Season permits can be paid for by check or cash only. No credit cards will be accepted. All boaters must possess a valid California boat registration, horn/whistle, fire extinguisher and life preserver for each occupant. Registration will be offered at the Madera County Government Center in Bass Lake from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Thursday, May 22 through Saturday, May 24.

Registration fees are $63 for boat dealers; $63 for boats with more than 250 horsepower; $50 for personal watercraft; $50 for boats that have 51 horsepower to 250 horsepower and $32 for boats with less than 51 horsepower.

For those who don't go to the above registration events, boaters must register their boat at the sheriff's tower on Bass Lake (559) 642-3606.
